A bevy of Middle East experts, some eagerly, some reluctantly, undertake to predict what will happen in the Arab world in the next ten years. The prophecies and alternative scenarios are intriguing but possibly less significant than what the authors say about the past and present. The views of the authors, most of them Arab or Arab-American, are by no means uniform, but they share a mood of pessimism about the region's future.
