Venezuela's Movimiento Al Socialismo: From Guerrilla Defeat To Innovative Politics

A well-researched analysis of Venezuela's small but innovative third party, which has eclipsed both guerrilla groups and the orthodox Communist Party to become the country's leading leftist voice. MAS is unusual on the Latin American left in its rejection of intransigent postures (such as unrelenting distrust of the United States and of the local armed forces), but it has not succeeded in attracting many followers aside from middle-class intellectuals.
