A 20-page bibliography of the best recent articles on economic development, chosen by a group of leading scholars, is one of the most useful features of this book. The editor then ties together ten pieces on rather miscellaneous subjects to help readers understand how economic and political factors interrelate in the development process. His comments are intelligent but the scope seems a bit limited and the choice of subjects somewhat arbitrary.
