This is an uneven collection, but one solid contribution is by a Pakistani political scientist, Syed Rifaat Hussain, who provides a good history of Soviet-U.S. and Chinese-Indian rivalry in South Asia, and concludes that the superpower competition is the decisive strategic relationship influencing the region.
