The World That FDR Built

By Edward Mortimer
Scribners, 1988
452 pp. $24.95

This unusual book is a collective political oral history of the contemporary world of a British journalist, based on conversations with dozens of individuals on several continents and divided into those who were in positions of responsibility and/or intellectual leadership during FDR's lifetime (those born early in the century) and "FDR's children" (those born after 1935). Of the 58 individuals interviewed, only three are women.
