This study focuses on U.S. policy toward Brazil at the height of its efforts to shape Latin American politics in Washington's image. Although this account may well exaggerate the importance of the U.S. actors-both government and multinational corporations-it accurately reflects how many leading Brazilian commentators perceive the U.S. policy of this period.
