Nationalism And Communism In Romania: The Rise And Fall Of Ceausescu's Personal Dictatorship

For some years Trond Gilberg has been writing on contemporary Romanian affairs, establishing himself as one of the foremost experts in the field. Here he draws on much of that earlier work to present a full picture of Romania's political culture, and especially of the Ceausescu regime and its devastating effects on the country and its people. The writing is as of the late 1980s. A brief epilogue takes cognizance of the revolution of December 1989, but nobody has bothered to change the tenses of the verbs in the main text.
