This is a collection of translations of selected Yevtushenko writings, mainly from the glasnost period, but including earlier ones-some of which could not be published at the time. There is a great variety-articles, interviews, open letters, travel notes, speeches, essays, excerpts from prose, tributes to fellow writers and artists-everything but poetry. All of it is intended to illustrate both his literary talent and role as an advocate of freedom of expression and human values.
