Whither Israel? The Domestic Challenges

Edited by Keith Kyle and Joel Peters

I. B. Tauris, 1993, 292 pp.

An excellent collection of original essays on the problems confronting Israeli society. The change of government in mid-1992 is just barely taken into account, and current issues such as the fate of Israeli settlers in the occupied territories are largely ignored, but the book remains timely nonetheless. The one essay on the Israeli right does, however, conclude that it cannot prevent the implementation of a peace agreement with the Palestinians, however hard it may try.
