The Partition of Palestine: Decision Crossroads in the Zionist Movement
The Partition of Palestine: Decision Crossroads in the Zionist Movement
By Itzhak Galnoor

The question of the proper territorial expression of Zionism has a certain immediacy as Israelis wrestle with what to do with the West Bank. In this sophisticated study, an Israeli political scientist examines in depth the Zionist reactions to the 1937 Peel Commission proposal to partition Palestine. Galnoor finds that territory was not viewed as an end in itself, but rather as instrumental for achieving other values, and therefore susceptible to compromise.
