The Master of Arts in International Studies (MAIS) program at the University of San Francisco provides students with an in-depth and critical perspective on the key actors and processes that shape our contemporary world. Courses focus on the relationships between global institutions, local cultures, identities and social movements, as well as the practical skills needed to effect change. MAIS graduates pursue careers in government and diplomacy, global and community service, nonprofit management and advocacy, and development and social responsibility.
In the MAIS Program, development and globalization are viewed through the lens of social justice. Examining how international policies impact marginalized populations is a key component of the program. In addition, summer internships provide students with a wealth of opportunities to combine theory with practical, professional experience.
As an urban university in the middle of one of the most vibrant cities in the world, USF offers extensive access to a large number of non-profit organizations, cutting edge companies, and cultural facilities.
